LECHLER SUCCESS STORY
Annual savings of € 70,000 in electricity costs with Lechler RS II-3 nozzle lances in the gas cooling tower of a German cement plant

Industry: Cement
Country: Germany
Application: Gas cooling in the evaporative cooler

A German cement plant commissioned Lechler to optimize the injection system of the gas cooling tower (GTC). The aim was to further increase the control range of the spillback nozzles (control ratio 10:1) in order to achieve a minimum volume of 1.5 m³/h without switching off nozzle lances. At the same time, efficiency should be increased and energy costs reduced.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Optimization of the gas cooling tower's injection system
  • General increase in efficiency
  • Reduction in energy consumption

CHALLENGES

  • Heterogeneity of the GTC injection system (different spillback nozzle lances)
  • Inefficiency of the droplet spectrum and existing nozzle technology
  • Associated high energy costs

SOLUTION

  • Installation of 12 spillback nozzle lances RS II-3
  • Replacement of the existing pump with a precisely tuned pump with frequency converter
  • Much finer droplet spectrum of the newly developed spillback nozzle enables
    • reduction of the supply pressure from 35 to 25 bar
    • reduction in pump output

CUSTOMER BENEFITS

  • Sustainable and long-term reduction in energy and operating costs
  • Tangible and measurable benefits for the customer by the use of technical innovations and customized solutions

We are committed to responsibility and sustainability. Our products support you on your way to achieve your own sustainability goals.
